A World Without Religious Indoctrination

"Isn't it a remarkable coincidence almost everyone has the same religion as their parents? And it always just happens to be the right religion." - Richard Dawkins

The moment you are born, you are tagged with a religion. On what basis? It solely depends on the family and the geographical region you're born in and NOTHING ELSE. You obviously can't have a say in it because you're an infant, don't understand anything and you're vulnerable. What other good time could there be to force feed religion? And by the time you reach the age of reason, capable enough to make your own decisions, you don't even dare to question your faith/religion because that's what's been taught to you all these years. You encounter situations where you question yourself if what you've been believing all these years is even true, but you don't have the courage to speak up to even your loved ones because somehow you've been made to believe that if you doubt, if you question, you're guilty.

Standing out of the crowd is not easy but it's not impossible either. Breaking out of imaginary chains is essential if you want to be your true self, especially if those chains are religious because religion teaches us to be satisfied with not knowing. How can you grow as a person if you don't ask questions? If you don't think? If you just blindly follow what you've been taught without morally analyzing it? You might be ignored, hated, emotionally blackmailed and even oppressed for your decision but once you realize the true nature of religion and religious dogma, it won't matter anymore. You'll be more rational, moral, kind, helpful, and most of all you'll know how to think instead of being told what to think. Once you experience the mental freedom, realize it's power and understand how it helps you be your true self, you'll never look back and in the process you'll be helping others who look up to you, thus doing your part in creating a better, more human world.

If religious instruction were not allowed until the child had attained the age of reason, we would be living in a quite different world. - Christopher Hitchens
